Update at last
The 1st thing I've learned whilst on holiday is to not make any blog entries too long. As yesterday I spent an age typing a huge update for what we've been upto so far, only to lose the lot before I published it.
The flight over was fine, except for waking in the middle of the 13 hour 2nd flight fealing terrible, really hot, and nearly being sick. Singapore airport was a welcome rest, particullarly once we'de found the rest and massage center, where we both had a lovely massage followed by a short chaser.
W's brother and daughters were at Manchester airport (not a nice airport - but still better than the awfull London airport) to pick us up at around 8am. We're currently at D & J's house in Wirral - located in a really nice area, near both the sea side and lots of quant 'villages'.
Day one was spent settling in at D & J's trying to get our brains working again after the flight. An afternoon nap really helped, and that combined with the very long daylight hours made it feal more like two days. The day was finished off with walking Murray.
Day two and we went out to ring-o-bells - walking on the never ending beech towards a small island (hilbre), which apparently often gets people cut off by the tide. This trip gave us our first ice cream of the holiday.
A short fuzzy video in Liverpool
In the evening we went out for a pub meal. Only to get very bad poor service, with our order being lost, and the meal not arriving for over an hour and mine not arriving until after everyone else had finished. However I'll not complain too much as the food was really nice (once it came) plus we got lots of appologies, and even 35 pounds nocked off the bill.
Yesterday (day 3 - Monday) we started with some shopping. England is having a bit of a heat wave at the moment - which has used up all out lighter clothes, so Asda was the firts port of call, to but some reasonably cheap t-shirts and underwear. Then we went to Heswall to Thorntons for a milk shake.
W and I spent the afternoon at Frodsham to see friends S and S. They have a lovely house in a lovely village. S(2) wasn't able to stay long due to work (he's a pilot), but we had a lovely time with S, taking a short walk (it was too hot for anything else) and catching up as much as we could in such a short time.
We were suprised how late it had got at S's (due in part to it never going dark this time of the year) and had to rush back to get (rather late) to J's parents for an evening meal.
