Flickr'ed out
I've just spent an age putting loads of my old photos up on flickr.
If you've not used flickr, and have digital photos then I suggest you give it a go.
All my web photos are now hosted by flickr, and clicking on them will take you to a larger version of the photo, at flickr - on a page with links to all my related photos.
If you've not looked around flickr here's a little information...
Photos can be arranged into 'sets' such as out christmas 2006 set click here and you can see all our sets.
Photos can also be given 'tags' to help you search. For example if you search for 'cookie' you'll see all the photos of Cookie. All the tags can be seen here. The bigger the tag, the more photos have it.
That'll do for now - I'm sure you get the idea.
Things that annoy - Can't park (another)
At Christmas parking was at a premium - so this was annoying.
Go Kart
No photos I'm afraid, we were too busy staying on the track.
Neither of us won (what a suprise), R came in 5th and w 9ths (out of 10).
For next year I realised all I need to do is stop using the brake, and lose 20 kilo's - and the cup will be mine.
The karts are fast and very low to the ground - I think I know why the suburbs named what it is.
This is your final chance to resolve or establish driving supremacy. The challenge should be made more interesting on the basis that many will be working only on half cylinders after a hard weeking celebrating Christmas festivities.
It will be held at the outdoor Cockburn Go Kart track in Gemma Rd Henderson, on Friday 29th December, 2006 at 9.30am.
The race format is as follows
3 laps of practice followed by 5 heats of 4 laps each, with the winner determined by the accumulation of points scores during the heats.
The track is 1070 metres long and 8 metres wide.
It was has used for the Western Australian Karting State Titles
First place will be presented with a trophy.
It is recommended that everyone racing wears jeans, long sleeve shirt and closed in shoes.
Don't forget hat, sunscreen and lots of water.
This event is not for young children

Things that annoy - Paint removal

Ignorant

Whilst I'm having a rant - this lovely street art someone left near work really annoys me everytime I walk past it.
Somone has just poured a tin of paint down the cente of the road, into the water drain. Lord knows how many years this eye sore will last.

Back in September I started a series 'things that annoy' - of course that was the 1st and last entry I create.
Here's a 2nd post to the set - this photo doesn't do justice to how badly this car is parked. It a tiny car, yet they left over half of it sticking into the carpark.
If this is how they park, they really shouldn't be on the road.

I've got some big plans for next year... more later.

Phew what a scorcher
Saturday - and the first day of my holidays, or at least that's what everyone has been saying. In truth I am working tomorrow, but since few others are, this is considered the start.
We are slowly upgrading the lights outside - which means, adding a lot more. The problem is, it's so darn hot. Phew it's a scorcher, currently about 45 in the shade, which equals about 110 in old money.
So we're hiding out in the cool of the house, doing even more lights - this time on the Christmas tree, plus a couple in the windows.
We had hoped to have the troops around of a BBQ / Pizza burn tonight, but everyone is booked out - except Sh & Ca who didn't want to come - hay ho, another time perhaps.
Instead, tonight is the estates 'carol's by candle light' - basically everyone meets up by the lake, and one of the local churches rig up lights and a sound system, and we all sing along. At least we try to sing along - many of the carols we don't really know the words to.
This years we're taking Bingley along, so I don't know how long we'll be staying, it depends how well he behaves.

Next weekend we'll be putting some lights over the roof itself.

Not looking good for Harley
After having her kidneys drained, two weeks ago, they are now bigger than ever. She was looking decidedly down on Sunday, so we decided to take her to the vet for their opinion.
It doesn't look like things are going well for her, and we don't expect her to last too long. The vet gave her a pain killer, which has certainly picked her up for now. However it's effect will only be short term, and we have the additional risk that the kidney could rupture. She now has a clearly visible lump sticking from the left side.
We are awaiting a call from the vet today - just incase she the local Animal Hospital/University think a partial kidney removal is possible. If not then this will possibly be her last week with us.

Daylight saving - initial review
So we've now had three (working) days with Daylight saving. As I expected, it's really been great for me.
Having a long drive home in the evening means I often don't get home until after 6:30 - so before I can start doing anything it starts to go dark.
This week has been really nice - I've got home, and W and I have had time to do things. We have been able to walk Bingley - whilst it's still light. So he's been able to play in the lake (perhaps we shouldn't be allowing that).
We've also been able to have a swim in the pool, and we've even tempted Bingley to play in a blow up boat we bought at the weekend (pics to come).

Spraying
First a gripe - is it just me, or is blogger getting almost always too slow to use. If anyone has a similarly featured alternative, please let me know. OK I know it's free, but something that doesn't work - is useless, even if it's free.
I am fairly confident that one of my christmas pressies this year will be an airbrush. I can be quite confident since I went and bought it this morning (W's still got to wrap it).
I've wanted one for a long time, despite being fully aware that I've got no artistic tallent whatsoever. That being said, I still hold out hope that having the equipment will somehow give me just a little skill / talent. OK - probably not, but I can always try.
Add an hour
Incase you don't know - here in the WA we're catching up with the rest of the world and giving daylight saving a three year try out. Yippee - say I. Having come from the 20th century I appreciate how nice it can be to have some extra daylight in an evening.
I'd say having a decent amount of light during the evening hours has been on of the big things I've missed since coming here. And now Perth has seen the light - at least for a 3 year trial anyway.
SO --- Make sure you take this into account if you phone. Our 9pm tomorrow will be 10pm.
